What is LED?
Light Emitting Diode (LED) phototherapy is the application of light energy to tissue to obtain therapeutic benefits. The energy is used to improve cellular performance. Phototherapy is known for its healing and anti-inflammatory properties and has a variety of applications across many medical fields. Red or Blue light (photons) is applied to skin and is absorbed by photoreceptors in skin cells.
Red LED wavelengths penetrate into the dermis, and stimulate the release of adenosine triphosphate (ATP)—ATP is the major carrier of energy to all cells. Increases in ATP allow cells to accept nutrients faster and get rid of waste products faster by increasing the energy level in the cell. Cells with more energy stimulate collagen production, accelerate tissue repair, help damaged cells to be replaced more quickly, and increases circulation (thereby oxygenating the skin). This all results in decreased inflammation in the skin, as well as improved skin tone, texture and clarity.
Blue LED wavelengths penetrate through the epidermis and is known to kill P. acnes bacteria—the bacteria that causes acne. This is an effective and painless way to reduce acne breakouts!
What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a safe and highly effective physical exfoliation procedure. A special tool is used to gently scrape off the top layer of dulling dead skin cells in order to reveal a smoother, brighter complexion. Dermaplaning is a favorite in the entertainment industry, especially among models and actresses because it also eliminates peach fuzz which can catch makeup in an unsightly manner - those in front of high-definition cameras love dermaplaning due to the flawless look it creates. Dermaplaning also allows for deeper penetration of skincare products, therefore making them more effective.
What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a painless skin resurfacing technique which mechanically exfoliates the outermost layer of dead skin cells and vacuums them away, leaving your skin feeling softer, smoother, and looking younger and more vibrant. The procedure makes way for a new, smoother layer of skin to replace the skin that's been treated.
Benefits of Microdermabrasion Treatments:
Helps minimize the appearance of large pores and is great for unclogging pores.
Microdermabrasion has been shown to diminish fine lines, wrinkles, and shallow acne scars.
Microdermabrasion may lessen the appearance of superficial hyperpigmentation, age spots and other superficial skin damage caused by the sun.
.Removing dead skin through microdermabrasion can aid in the penetration of skincare products by up to 50%, and it allows makeup to glide on more smoothly due to the more even skin surface that microdermabrasion creates.
Microdermabrasion stimulates circulation in the skin, which increases the nutrition delivered to skin cells. This improves cell production, which improves skin’s elasticity and texture.
A chemical peel is a technique which involves the application of a variety of chemical solutions to remove the damaged outer layers of dead skin cells from the skin’s surface. It is extremely beneficial for many skin conditions such as hyperpigmentation, rosacea, acne, sun damage, and photo aging.
By removing the build-up of dead skin and stimulating the regenerative process, you will notice marked improvements in wrinkles and fine lines, texture, skin tone, hydration, pore size and clearing of blemishes. In order to qualify for a mid-depth peel service, you must have scheduled a 4-Layer Facial 3-4 weeks prior to your peel service so your esthetician can assess your skin to determine what peel solutions would be appropriate, and to prep your skin for the deeper peel. Your esthetician may require a patch test a day or more prior to the peel treatment.
Our peels are considered progressive superficial peels, meaning only the outer layers of the epidermis are affected (not medical peels). Progressive superficial peels are very effective with minimal down time. These peels may or may not cause visible peeling; however, they will begin rejuvenation in the skin. We are able to target all skin types.
Post care is required for 5-7 days to ensure healing, support inflammation and strengthen new skin cells.
Things to expect:
• Skin may be sensitive to the touch for a couple of days.
• Pink/Redness is normal for 1-2 days.
· Light sunburn flaking to deeper peeling is typical.
Skin rejuvenation at this level will improve texture, clarity and radiance, smooth fine lines and wrinkles, as well as
firm and tone the skin.
You will be asked to discontinue topical prescriptive such as Retin-A®, Differin® and Renova® for one week prior
to the peel. It is required that you wear sunscreen daily and use the appropriate post care home care. Those who have been on Accutane within 1 year, are not candidates for skin peels.
