Collagen Induction Therapy
Are you ready to see a difference in your skin?
Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), also known as Microneedling, is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure that involves the use of a device that contains fine needles that vibrate up and down at specific depths to puncture the skin to create a controlled skin injury. Each puncture creates a channel that triggers the body to fill and repair these microscopic wounds by producing new collagen and elastin. Through the repair process, there is visible improvement in skin texture and firmness, as well as reduction in wrinkle depth, pore size, and scars.
When you turn 25 years old, your Collagen goes dormant (which is why you begin to see the signs of aging). Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) is the only proven treatment to stimulate BOTH Collagen Types 1 & 3 for up to TWO YEARS!
Improves the quality and texture of your skin, with long-lasting effects.
Reduces pock marks and scarring
Exfoliates the skin
Makes you look younger by reducing fine lines and wrinkles
Reduces hyperpigmentation and evens skin the skin tone
What does the treatment entail?
Your CIT treatment will begin with a thorough health intake, and you'll be asked about any medical history or medications that may affect the treatment outcome. We will discuss your skin goals and any specific areas that you would like to target, as well as the number of treatments recommended to achieve those goals. Then, we gently cleanse your skin, apply a topical numbing cream (we use a 5% Lidocaine cream) that will minimize any discomfort. While the numbing cream takes effect for about 20 minutes, we will give you a relaxing shoulder, scalp, and arm massage (or feet, if you'd like!). Then, we begin the CIT treatment, targeting the whole face (including any areas of concern) and neck. We use a high quality CIT Pen, not a roller. Rollers can tear the skin on a micro-level, compromising the healing process.
Microneedling produces maximum collagen stimulation and remodeling, with minimal inflammation, and gives us the unique opportunity to deeply infuse your skin with collagen-stimulating solutions. AnteAGE® Microneedling Solution contains pro-healing, anti-inflammatory growth factors and cytokines derived from laboratory cultures of human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells, the specialized cells that science has determined function as “command and control” of healing in all injured tissues. This helps to minimize downtime. We also infuse hyaluronic acid, which provides glide for the treatment and is a powerful humectant that promotes rapid re-hydration and volume enhancement within the upper layers of the skin.
The positive effects can be seen immediately and accelerate over time, with collagen-building and skin-strengthening that remodels wrinkles and fine lines, refines pores, plumps and fills acne scarring, and lightens hyperpigmentation and sun damage.
What to expect post-treatment
Day 1: Skin will be feel warm and tighter than usual immediately after treatment depending on needle depth, and will look like it has a moderate sunburn. Pinpoint bleeding may initially occur and makeup should not be applied for 24 hours after. Do not go swimming, and avoid sweating / workouts for 24-hours post-treatment.
Day 2: Some areas of the skin may still have a pink hue like a moderate sunburn. Cleanse with gentle cleanser, and apply serum and a physical SPF of 30 or more. Generally, any sensitivity or redness will subside after the first 24-hours post-treatment.
Day 3: Skin may feel dry or tight. A slight breakout or acne may occur, along with possible light peeling that could continue for up to 5 days post-treatment, due to an increased turnover of skin cells. Continue using recommended post-care products.
Day 4, onward: You can return to your normal skin routine (retinol products can be used again 7 days post-CIT if skin is no longer irritated), and wear sunscreen of at least 30 SPF during the day. Excessive sun exposure should be avoided for 10 days after treatment (no beach vacations!)
Results: Results may be seen between 4 weeks and 6 months after a CIT treatment as old collagen is broken down, and the production of new collagen is triggered. This collagen increase lasts for at least 2 years! The dermal thickening that results from CIT adds elasticity and decreases skin laxity.
Though CIT is safe for most, there are some conditions in which Collagen Induction is contraindicated:
Active acne, pustular rosacea and inflammed areas need to be avoided.
Those who are prone to cold sores will need to get a prescription for an anti-viral from their doctor and take it 2 days prior, and the day of the treatment - or as directed by the doctor. CIT treatments can stimulate a cold sore outbreak.
Sun exposure MUST be avoided post-treatment.
Those on Accutane cannot receive CIT treatment until they've discontinued the medication for 1 year prior.
Those with immune disorders or on anticoagulants are not candidates for CIT.
Vitamin A topical serums or creams must be discontinued 3-5 days prior to CIT.
If you get Botox or Dermal Fillers, you must wait 2 weeks after injections until getting a CIT treatment.
Those with Type 2 Diabetes may receive CIT with their doctor's consent. Type 1 Diabetes is contraindicated.
Those prone to keloid scarring.
Allergies to Lidocaine.
